songwriter, rapper, singer, and visual content creator

Empath is the artist alias of New York-born singer, Jasper Low. He came up with this moniker from a combination of an X-Men villain that shares the same name, as well as an early discovery that he possessed high emotional intelligence. “Empath, the superhero, has the power to control other people’s emotions, and I feel like I can do the same through my songs”, the artist says. Influenced by the positive and negative experiences of his life, as well as the acclaimed works of Tinashe, J.Cole, and Janet Jackson, Empath is ready to bring his unique style of “Rhythmic-indie-rock” to the charts.
When the then-14-year-old Jasper was studying for his chemistry final in 2015, 2 verses and a chorus popped into his head. Those words would come to make up his first full song, “Aspiration”, which would symbolically open his debut mixtape “Topic of Discussion” (2017). Realizing that songwriting was the first thing he was passionate about, he quickly honed his craft through Youtube Tutorials and trial and error. Throughout the years, he has experimented with genres like hard trap, acoustic rap, emo rap, and RapnB. “One benefit of being an independent artist is that I’m not tied to any lane or genre. I go wherever my songwriting takes me, and if it takes me country, I’m goin country!”. Empath struck minor success with a feature on Daniel Huerta’s debut single, “Not Me” (2020) released under Tuesday Nite Records. The single’s profits benefited The Inland Valley Hope Partners charity and ended up being added to nearly 90 Spotify playlists by the end of the year.
Besides music, Empath has branched off into directing/producing his own music videos, directing a short film for the Campus Movie Fest (Amber, 2018), managing artists (indie-rocker Andrew Iglesias and PEI songstress Kari Lyn), and creating plenty of fun and exciting visual content for platforms like Youtube and TikTok. As of December 2019, Empath has been hard at work crafting an EP and completing the transition from Soundcloud rapper to singer. His new music takes influence from the 80’s, country pop, and contemporary indie rock production.
